My Favorite DIY Brightening Face Mask

I wanted to share my favorite homemade face mask that has helped to brighten and even out my skin tone. I have been making this mask for years now, and have seen my complexion greatly improve. As a teen and throughout college I struggled with acne that left behind dark scars. I remember one day my friend saw me without makeup and commented on how I had so many strange looking freckles on my face. I realized she was referring to the acne scars and decided it was time to get rid of them. I researched and tried different at home face masks and remedies that remove acne scars and hyperpigmentation. From my experimentation with various kitchen ingredients, I took the best of the best and created this recipe. My acne scars have disappeared for the most part, and now I use this recipe to treat and fade my melasma, which appeared recently during my pregnancy.

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon of honey

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon banana mashed

Instructions:

  1. Measure the yogurt into a clean bowl and add the honey, and lemon juice. Mash up a banana with a fork, or use a food processor until there are no more lumps. Add to the mixture and stir until it has blended completely.
  2. Use a clean makeup brush or clean fingers to apply evenly to your face. Avoid the area around your eyes, mouth, and eyebrows.
  3. Let it sit on your skin for 15-30 minutes, and then wash off with warm water, and apply your moisturizer.

Tips:

I recommend using this mask three times a week for six months. Consistency is the key with any lightening treatment in order to get the best results.
